The Scoop On The Tea!

Priest River Tea Co.  I created the Priest River Tea Co. Original Fine Art on canvas from being  inpired by my  mom and her childhood with her sister Marlene and their Aunt Olivia & Uncle Jack who lived in Priest River Idaho in the 1930's to 1940's.  My Mom and Aunt Mike would play in the forest along the river and make mountain tea out of old flowers.  They had an amazing childhood playing in the woods of North Idaho. My great Uncle Jack was a lumber Jack for Diamond Match and lived on more than 10 acres right on the water along highway 2 which is now called the Mud Hole State Park.

In the 40s it wasn't called the mud hole yet but we know why it got its name..... every spring when the river flooded they would have a foot or more of water in the house and walk to bed in galoshes. My mom's sister was so little they carried her through the water to her bed.  As the water receded they had to scrape the mud off the walls and shovel and wash the mud out of the house.....  this is how the mud hole name became very appropriate.

Every time we drive by, mom shares the history of how she and her sister played in the mud hole, riding on logging mules, hunted for dinner, picked flowers and ice skated on the sloughs by the house.

They grew up on that land when it was privately owned by her uncle Jack and Olivia. My mom and her sister would collect leaves, and blossoms for aunt Olivia to make homemade tea. My Great aunt Olivia loved tea and they had tea many times while my mom and her sister were visiting and playing Cribbage.

Uncle Jack would stand on logs to float them down Priest River to the mill and he would drink good strong loggers coffee to start the day early & a shot of gin in the evening.

My mom says it was magical and a wonderland for play as little girls with many memories. The land was surrounded by many flowers and Indian paintbrush and they would drink tea on the back porch viewing the lush forest and prolific flowers of North Idaho. These little girls along with aunt Olivia were creating fresh homemade tea from the forest that inspired me to create the Priest River Tea Co.

Bubbles At
The Mud Hole
My mom told me when she was growing up with her sister they were  best friends experienceing great adventures at the Mud Hole! They had created many memories and  getting silly with the family. As Sisters they were always ready to love, comfort, and defend each other, sharing dreams, plans, secrets, stories, songs, laughs & tears. While playing at the Mud Hole, these girls would sing and sing and sing and sing.  They later raised their kids to learn some of the songs. My aunt Mike's Kids (my awesome cousins) are Christie, Karen & Alan and their dad Uncle Roger & the dogs of course. We have heard many of these song while growing up.  My Mom's sister has recently passed and my aunt Marlene meant the world to my mom and I and we miss her dearly.  She was like my 2nd mom.

I love Tea and I love the Smell of perculating coffee!!!!! This sight was created for my Vintage Style Tea, Coffee & Cars Art Series. We do make tea but just for us for now. I grow alot of fresh peppermint and Lemon Basil and other herbs for our family summer teas!

I love creating unique Kitchen, Cafe,  Vintage Style Whimsical Art Decor!
such as my Cafe Kitchen Decor that I titled Priest River Tea Co. . The history that mom has shared of her childhood making home made tea from the forest at the Mud Hole right at the waters edge of Priest River Idaho (which is now a state park)  inspired me to create this. It has blessed my mom and I so much by bringing back memories and keeping history alive and to pass down to the kids as well as to share some unknown history of the Mud Hole.

BACKGROUND ABOUT MY ART
I use the Canon 5D Mark III with the best lenses and I use a Tripod with remote for professional sharpness and clarity. I have studied with some of the best nature photographers in the country and will continue to do so because there is so much to learn and so many places to see! I am so big on education!!

When I just started, I was not use to hiking in the mountains. I had to carry my heavy back pack loaded with gear that I almost tipped over lol. Because of my camera, I have traveled and hiked to places I have never gone before. It has help me to get out of the day to day grind of the city and to try new things. It was the best decision and changed my life!

After the death of my dad and brother, suffering great loss has motivated me to step out and try new things that I have never done before. One of the most important things that has helped me was to focus on and surround myself on whatever is pure and lovely and beautiful and so I did that by climbing mountains, gazing at the horizon on the top of summits, hiking to beautiful creeks, capturing the flowers in bloom and the water falls in the warm summer evening. It has changed how I see life outside of the daily routine.
Philippians 4:8-9.

I am a graduate from Cornish College Of The Fine Arts with a Bachelor Of Fine Art Degree in Music and Classical Guitar and a UW K-12 Instrumental and General Music Teachers Certificate. Along with this, I am continuing my education in music, teaching and photography & traveling to various workshops as well. With my schooling background, I have been surrounded by artists that like to blaze new trails for music, composition, photography, innovative art, acting, ballet and all kinds of art and mediums! We like to think out-of-the-box with no borders.

With this kind of experience, I like to take a more artistic approach and try to do things out of the norm. I like to do things that not only look beautiful, classic, eye-popping, rich , full of detail and or play-full for example my purple powder room pic and or the Forest Mossy Pathway pics... I want to edit my digital images for what's best for the picture. I want to bring out its best potential and go beyond.

I love photography/graphic arts and I do it because it’s fun and rewarding. It is something I do for myself part time...along with teaching guitar and gigs, playing classical guitar and harmonica, I love vintage antiques, I love cooking!!!! I love kitchens!! I love home decorating!! I also wanted to teach children and adults about things from the past and vintage cars!  This is why I do a lot of vintage decor.

I believe my back ground in the arts inspires and influences my style in photography/graphic arts.
But the Biggest Inflence Is my Mom! She is the best coolest mom and soooooo talented that she is on Facebook at Metal Mania Mom.
She is an amazing artist/welder and has taught me everything I know and inflenced my creativity and encouraged me.
